KATHMANDU: The Government of Delhi has proposed a full road tax and registration fee exemption for electric vehicles priced up to 3 million Indian rupees. The provision is part of its draft EV policy.

The proposed benefit will be valid until March 31, 2030. EVs priced above 3 million Indian rupees will not qualify for any tax exemption.

The policy also includes a 50% road tax exemption for strong-hybrid vehicles.

In addition, the government plans to allow registration of only electric three-wheelers starting from January 1, 2027. This move targets faster electrification in the commercial segment.

The draft policy has been opened for public feedback. Stakeholders and citizens can submit suggestions within 30 days.
