KATHMANDU: Toyota Motor Corporation has outlined its future product strategy in India, focusing on a new range of SUVs and MPVs. According to Autocar India, the upcoming lineup will largely include in-house developed models instead of rebadged versions from Maruti Suzuki.
The product rollout is expected to begin in 2027. Toyota may introduce a lower-spec version of the Toyota Innova Hycross. This model will fill the gap left by the discontinued Toyota Innova Crysta.
Toyota is also working on a new electric MPV. It will be based on Maruti’s upcoming YMC project and use the Heartect-e platform. The model is expected to rival the BYD eMax 7. Launch timeline is likely between 2027 and 2028.
In 2028, Toyota could introduce the new Toyota Land Cruiser FJ. It may be produced at the brand’s new plant in Chhatrapati Shambhajinagar, Maharashtra.
The Toyota Corolla Cross project is also expected to return. The SUV could arrive by late 2028 or early 2029.
Toyota is also preparing the next-generation Toyota Fortuner. The third-gen model is likely to continue with the 2.8-liter diesel engine paired with mild-hybrid technology.
The upcoming lineup shows Toyota’s focus on SUVs and electrification in the Indian market.
