KATHMANDU: Hyundai’s upcoming Ioniq V has been spotted in near-production form in China, revealing a mid-size electric fastback sedan with a strong focus on design and technology.

The Ioniq V measures 4,900 mm in length, 1,890 mm in width, and 1,470 mm in height, with a 2,900 mm wheelbase. It features a low-slung fastback profile aimed at improving aerodynamic efficiency. Frameless doors, semi-hidden handles, and a full-width rear light bar highlight its modern design.

Inside, the car gets a 27-inch 4K dual-screen setup and a head-up display. It is powered by the Snapdragon 8295 chip, supporting fast infotainment response, voice control, and multi-zone interaction. The cabin also includes ambient lighting and a digital-focused layout.

The model comes with Momenta-developed L2+ driver assistance features. These include highway navigation assist, urban NOA, and automated parking.

Hyundai will offer both BEV and EREV versions in China. The electric setup includes motor options of 140 kW and 168 kW. An 800V electrical architecture enables faster DC charging, supported by CATL battery systems.

The Ioniq V is expected to play a key role in Hyundai’s strategy to strengthen its presence in China’s mid-size EV segment, where the brand is currently facing declining sales.
