BYD Shenzhen plant fire extinguished, all personnel safe

KATHMANDU: A fire broke out at BYD’s Pingshan facility in Shenzhen early on April 14. Authorities confirmed the blaze was contained with no injuries reported.

The incident occurred around 2:48 a.m. in a multi-level parking structure used for storing test and scrapped vehicles. Emergency response teams were deployed immediately, and the fire was later extinguished.

BYD clarified that the affected area was a designated parking garage for experimental and end-of-life vehicles, not part of its main production or assembly operations. There has been no confirmation of damage to manufacturing lines or disruption to production.

The cause of the fire has not been disclosed.
