KATHMANDU: BYD is preparing to add an MPV to its Ocean series. The new model is expected to enter the market by the end of 2026.

Zhang Zhuo, head of sales for BYD’s Ocean Network, has described the upcoming MPV as a distinctive product that will be different from existing models. However, BYD has not revealed its name, specifications or pricing yet.

BYD unveiled the OCEAN-V concept at the 2026 Beijing Auto Show in April. The concept was presented as a family-oriented mobility vehicle with a focus on outdoor activities, camping and in-car entertainment.

The OCEAN-V features a cabin with no physical buttons, a sliding center display and a large screen that rises from the dashboard in cinema mode. Its seats can also be rearranged to face each other or folded flat to create a bed for camping.

BYD has not confirmed whether the upcoming production MPV will be based on the OCEAN-V concept. The company has said that some of the concept’s design ideas and features will gradually make their way into production models under the Ocean Network.

The new MPV is expected to target family users with a focus on practicality, entertainment and outdoor activities. More details about the model could emerge in the coming months.
