KATHMANDU: Chery Jaguar Land Rover (Chery-JLR) has unveiled the interior of the Freelander 8, the first production SUV developed under its new Freelander brand, through its official social media channels.

The model is scheduled to make its debut in China during the second half of 2026.

The cabin features a dual-occupant layout with a “Commander” driver’s seat and a “L·A·D·Y” front passenger seat. The driver’s seat is designed to provide a commanding view of the road, while the front passenger seat offers 1,200 mm of legroom, allowing passengers up to 1.9 meters tall to stretch out comfortably.

The passenger area also includes a full-width display, dedicated climate control, private storage compartments and a fragrance system inspired by British luxury interiors.

The Freelander 8 retains physical buttons with a Clous de Paris pattern, a design borrowed from luxury watchmaking. It also features crystal-finished rotary controls made from K9 optical crystal, complemented by a 256-color ambient lighting system.

The dashboard adopts a T-shaped layout with a 46.3-inch 8K panoramic display and a 15.6-inch central touchscreen.

On the technology front, the SUV comes standard with Huawei’s Qiankun ADS 5.0 intelligent driving system and is among the first production vehicles to use the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8397 automotive chipset.

Built on an 800V high-voltage architecture, the Freelander 8 also features a dedicated all-terrain range-extender battery jointly developed with CATL, along with Huawei’s i-ATS intelligent all-terrain system.

Earlier this month, Jaguar Land Rover ended production of its locally manufactured models in China. The former JLR manufacturing facility is now being used to build Freelander models developed through the Chery-JLR partnership, with the Freelander 8 becoming the first vehicle under the revived brand.
