KATHMANDU: Honda has filed a design patent for the UC3 electric scooter in India. The neo-retro electric scooter is currently available in Thailand and Vietnam.
The Honda UC3 features a maxi-scooter-inspired front fairing with a single LED headlamp and a wraparound LED DRL. It also gets a flat floorboard, stepped seat and sleek rear body panels.
The scooter rides on 12-inch alloy wheels. Its design combines retro styling with a sporty appearance.
The UC3 is powered by an LFP battery, offering a claimed range of 122km on a single charge. It can be charged from 20% to 80% in five hours using a 450W charger. With a 1,200W charger, the same charge takes around two hours.
Power comes from a 6kW electric motor. The scooter has a claimed top speed of 120kmph.
The UC3 comes with a 5-inch TFT instrument console and four riding modes. These include Standard, Sport and Econ modes, along with a reverse mode.
The design patent filing does not confirm Honda’s plans to launch the UC3 in India. However, the filing suggests that the company is evaluating the model for the Indian market.
