KATHMANDU: Toyota will unveil the new-generation Fortuner globally on December 1, 2026. The updated three-row SUV is expected to receive major design and interior changes while retaining much of its existing platform and mechanical setup.
The current-generation Toyota Fortuner was introduced in 2016. It has remained largely unchanged for nearly a decade, despite continuing to attract buyers.
The new Fortuner is expected to feature a redesigned exterior inspired by the latest Toyota Hilux. However, it will have distinct styling elements to maintain its identity as a separate SUV.
The changes could include sharper headlights, a revised front grille and updated body styling. The SUV is also expected to retain its rugged appearance.
Inside, the new Fortuner could receive a redesigned dashboard similar to the latest Hilux. Expected features include a 12.3-inch infotainment screen and a digital instrument cluster.
Higher variants could also offer a 360-degree camera, wireless charging, ventilated front seats and Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).
The new Fortuner is expected to retain Toyota’s IMV ladder-frame chassis, which also underpins the Hilux. However, the suspension setup could receive some changes to improve ride comfort and handling.
Engine options are also expected to remain familiar. These could include the existing 2.7-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine and 2.8-litre diesel engine. Higher variants may continue to offer a 48V mild-hybrid system.
Toyota has yet to confirm pricing and variant details for the new-generation Fortuner. It also remains unclear whether the updated model will continue to offer a separate Legender version.
