KATHMANDU: Vehicles donated by India for Nepal’s upcoming elections have been put on display at the Ministry of Home Affairs. The first batch includes 106 vehicles that have already arrived from India.

India is set to provide a total of 377 vehicles for the House of Representatives elections scheduled for March 5. Most of these vehicles will be handed over to security agencies to support election duties.

The need for additional vehicles has increased after many police vehicles were damaged and burned during the Gen Z movement. To manage logistics and security during the polls, mobility has become a key concern.

Alongside the Indian support, Nepal Police has also decided to purchase 185 vehicles from its regular budget to meet election requirements. The vehicles will be used mainly for patrol, transportation of personnel, and election-related operations across the country.
