KATHMANDU: Hyundai Motor Company has revealed the all-new Ioniq 3 electric hatchback for Europe.

The new model becomes the smallest member of Hyundai’s Ioniq EV family. It will sit below the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and above the Inster.

The Ioniq 3 measures up to 4,170 mm in length. That makes it similar in size to the Hyundai Bayon.

Hyundai describes it as an aero hatchback. The model combines hatchback styling with crossover-inspired body cladding.

The company says the EV has a drag coefficient of 0.263 for improved efficiency.

Higher trims get sporty styling, black exterior accents and 19-inch alloy wheels. Base versions use 16-inch wheels.

Inside, the Ioniq 3 gets a 14.6-inch touchscreen. Lower trims receive a 12.9-inch display with a compact digital cluster.

The model debuts Hyundai’s new Google-based Pleos infotainment system. Physical buttons for climate controls are still included.

Other features include wireless charging, heated and ventilated seats, panoramic sunroof, Bose audio system and Hyundai SmartSense safety tech.

Boot space stands at 441 liters. The Ioniq 3 uses Hyundai’s E-GMP platform, shared with the Kia EV3 and EV4. At launch, it will be offered in two front-wheel-drive variants.

The Standard Range model gets 144 hp and a 42.2 kWh battery. Hyundai claims up to 344 km WLTP range.

The Long Range version produces 133 hp and uses a larger 61 kWh battery. Range increases to 496 km WLTP.

Both versions deliver 250 Nm torque. Reports say Hyundai’s N division is studying a hotter performance version of the Ioniq 3.

If approved, it could use a dual-motor setup with more power and sportier chassis tuning. The Hyundai Ioniq 3 will go on sale in Europe later this year.
