KATHMANDU: Yamaha Nepal is preparing to launch the XSR 155, its neo-retro motorcycle, in the Nepali market. MAW Rides, the brand’s authorized distributor, is expected to unveil the motorcycle at the NADA Auto Show scheduled for August.

The Yamaha XSR 155 entered the Indian market around eight months ago after being sold in several international markets. Nepal will now become one of the latest markets to receive the model.

The XSR 155 shares its platform with the Yamaha R15 and MT-15. It uses the same 155cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected engine with Variable Valve Actuation (VVA). The engine produces 18.4 PS of power and 14.2 Nm of torque and is paired with a six-speed gearbox featuring an assist and slipper clutch.

Designed for riders who prefer a retro look with modern technology, the motorcycle comes with a Delta Box frame, a round LED headlamp, a teardrop-shaped fuel tank, a flat single-piece seat, a 10-liter fuel tank, 120 mm of ground clearance, and a curb weight of 137 kg.

The suspension setup includes USD front forks and a rear monoshock. Braking is handled by disc brakes at both ends with dual-channel ABS. The bike also gets tubeless tires and alloy wheels.

Feature highlights include a fully digital LCD instrument cluster with Y-Connect smartphone connectivity, call and SMS alerts, full LED lighting with DRLs, traction control, and an electric starter.

The Yamaha XSR 155 is priced at 149,000 Indian rupees in India. Based on current taxes and duties, its price in Nepal is expected to exceed Rs 500,000.
