KATHMANDU: Range Rover has offered the first public preview of the Range Rover Sport Electric during the Goodwood Festival of Speed, showcasing prototypes of its first fully electric performance SUV ahead of its official debut later this year.
During a private demonstration, the electric SUV tackled a series of challenges, including climbing out of an aircraft fuselage, driving up a staircase and completing laps of the Goodwood circuit. The display was designed to highlight that the EV retains the brand’s renowned off-road capability while delivering higher performance.
According to Range Rover, the electric model will be “more dynamic and faster than ever” thanks to a new electric powertrain, advanced chassis tuning and enhanced driving technologies.
While technical specifications have not yet been revealed, the Range Rover Sport Electric is expected to use a powertrain producing around 542 hp, similar to the upcoming Range Rover Electric.
The production model is expected to arrive alongside the facelifted third-generation Range Rover Sport, featuring updated styling and improved in-cabin technology.
Range Rover has also confirmed that the Sport lineup will continue to offer six-cylinder petrol and diesel engines, V8 mild-hybrid petrol variants and plug-in hybrid models, meaning buyers will continue to have a wide choice of powertrains alongside the new all-electric version.
