KATHMANDU: Geely has revealed a new integrated electric drive system that promises higher efficiency, lower weight, and longer driving range. The technology will debut in the upcoming Geely Galaxy TT sedan, a model positioned to rival the Xiaomi SU7.
Developed with electric drivetrain specialist InfiMotion, Geely’s new 16-in-1 Intelligent E-Drive combines 16 key components into a single unit weighing just 75 kg. The compact module integrates the electric motor, DC-DC converter, onboard charger, vehicle control unit, motor controller, and high-voltage battery management system, according to Geely.
The drive unit uses a lightweight magnesium housing to reduce weight and improve efficiency. According to Geely, the system achieves an efficiency of 93.8% under the CLTC test cycle, making it one of the most efficient electric powertrains developed by the company.
The Galaxy TT will be available with 52.4 kWh, 63.8 kWh, and 75.2 kWh battery packs, all paired with an 800V electrical architecture. The top variant is claimed to deliver up to 725 km (CLTC) of driving range from its 75.2 kWh battery.
Geely also claims the sedan consumed just 8.2 kWh per 100 km during an efficiency drive around China’s Qinghai Lake, earning a Guinness World Record for the lowest energy consumption by a production battery-electric sedan on a full circuit of the lake.
The range-topping all-wheel-drive version will feature a dual-motor setup producing up to 425 kW, enabling the sedan to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 3.8 seconds.
The powertrain also features AI-assisted torque management for faster power delivery and a 54-channel cooling system that can reduce peak motor temperatures by up to 15°C during sustained high-load driving.
