KATHMANDU: BYD has showcased the Shark 6 plug-in hybrid pickup in Nepal. Cimex Inc., the authorized distributor of BYD in Nepal, has displayed the Shark 6 at the ongoing NADA Auto Show 2026. The company has not announced its price yet.
The BYD Shark 6 is based on the DMO Super Hybrid Off-road Platform. DMO stands for Dual Mode Off-road. The pickup combines a 1.5-liter turbocharged petrol engine with two electric motors.
The front electric motor produces 170 kW and 310 Nm, while the rear motor generates 150 kW and 340 Nm. The system produces a combined output of 321 kW or 430 hp and 650 Nm of torque.
The Shark 6 can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 5.7 seconds. It has a top speed of 160 kmph.
The pickup gets a 29.58 kWh BYD Blade Battery. It offers a claimed electric range of up to 100 km and a combined range of up to 840 km.
The Shark 6 measures 5,457 mm in length, 1,971 mm in width and 1,925 mm in height. It has a 3,260 mm wheelbase.
The interior features a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a rotating infotainment touchscreen. It also comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Other features include a digital key, voice control, remote vehicle management, 360-degree camera, wireless phone charging and a head-up display.
The pickup comes with four-wheel drive and Sand, Mud and Snow driving modes. It also features independent suspension, an 835 kg payload capacity and a maximum towing capacity of 2,500 kg.
