KATHMANDU : The Nepal Automobile Importers and Manufacturers Association (NAIMA) has announced a donation of Rs. 5 million to support relief and rehabilitation efforts for people affected by the Bhotekoshi flood in Rasuwa.
NAIMA will contribute the amount to the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund. The association said the support is aimed at helping affected communities during the ongoing disaster.
NAIMA expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and property caused by the flood. It also extended condolences to the families of those who lost their lives and wished a speedy recovery to the injured.
The association also appreciated the efforts of its member companies in rescue and relief operations. According to NAIMA, member companies have been providing financial, transportation and logistics support since the disaster began.
NAIMA President Ritu Singh Vaidya said the private sector also has a responsibility to support the government and affected communities during difficult times.
“Supporting the government and affected citizens during such difficult times is a shared responsibility of the private sector. I sincerely thank all our member companies for their readiness to support and cooperate during this disaster,” Vaidya said.
She added that effective coordination among the government, private sector and communities is important for relief and rehabilitation efforts.
NAIMA also expressed appreciation to government agencies, security personnel, health workers, rescue teams, volunteers, local communities and organisations involved in search, rescue and relief operations. It has urged stakeholders in the automobile and mobility sector to support affected people according to their capacity and available resources.
