KATHMANDU: The Nepal Automobile Importers and Manufacturers Association (NAIMA) has expressed its readiness to cooperate with government and security agencies in rescue, relief and rehabilitation efforts following the devastating floods in Rasuwagadhi.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, NAIMA expressed deep sorrow over the extensive loss of lives, infrastructure and public and private property in Timure, Syabrubesi, Rasuwagadhi and surrounding areas of Rasuwa.
The association said the floods have caused significant damage to roads and bridges, electricity and communication infrastructure, vehicles, market areas, hydropower projects, government and security facilities and other important physical assets.
“Although the full extent of the damage is yet to be assessed, we are concerned that the human, physical and economic losses could be much greater,” NAIMA said.
The association expressed sympathy to the affected citizens, families, businesses, security personnel and local communities.
NAIMA also paid tribute to the Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, Nepali Army, local administration and rescue personnel involved in search, rescue and relief operations.
The association urged people in areas connected to the Bhotekoshi and Trishuli river systems to remain highly alert. It also asked residents of potentially affected areas, including Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading, Gorkha and Chitwan, to stay in safe locations and follow safety instructions issued by the concerned authorities.
NAIMA said it is ready to provide necessary cooperation to the relevant government and security agencies for rescue, relief and rehabilitation efforts.
