KATHMANDU: Nepal’s automobile market is set for another wave of new entrants. Around half a dozen new car brands are expected to make their debut during the NAIMA Nepal Mobility Expo and the NADA Auto Show 2026 in August.

While not all brands have been officially confirmed, stall bookings and industry preparations indicate that several new names will enter the Nepali market. Most of them are Chinese brands, reflecting the country’s growing EV and hybrid vehicle segment.

Brands confirmed to enter Nepal include BAIC, ARCFOX, Chery QQ and Changan Nevo. In addition, Jetour, Lepas and Hongqi are also planning to start sales in Nepal. However, their official distributors have yet to be announced.

Laxmi e-Mobility has secured the rights to distribute BAIC and ARCFOX in Nepal. Both brands are part of China’s state-owned BAIC Group and will offer electric and hybrid vehicles.

Under the ARCFOX brand, the company is expected to introduce the ARCFOX T1, a premium all-electric hatchback. BAIC, meanwhile, will launch the BJ30e, a strong hybrid SUV designed for buyers looking for a lifestyle-oriented vehicle with off-road capability.

SPG Automobiles, the authorized distributor of Chery in Nepal, will officially launch the Chery QQ3 EV at the NAIMA Nepal Mobility Expo. The compact electric hatchback is expected to attract first-time EV buyers with its affordable positioning.

Changan Nevo is also making its Nepal debut. The brand joins Deepal, another Changan brand that has already established a strong presence in the country. Nevo vehicles will be sold through Deepal showrooms operated by MAW Vriddhi.

The first Nevo model for Nepal will be the Nevo Q05 SUV. It is expected to be launched during the NADA Auto Show 2026.

Meanwhile, several business groups are competing to secure the distribution rights for Jetour, Lepas and Hongqi. Industry sources suggest that the official distributors for these brands could be announced within the next week.
