KATHMANDU: Floods and landslides have continued to disrupt road connectivity across Nepal, with 18 major road sections still blocked as of Tuesday morning. Some other affected roads have resumed one-way traffic.
According to Nepal Police, roads in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini and Karnali provinces remain affected.
The Kantii Lokpath connecting Hetauda and Kathmandu is completely blocked due to a landslide at Tarkuche in Lalitpur’s Bagmati Rural Municipality. The Tikabhairav-Charghare section is also fully closed.
The Hetauda-Bhaise-Bhimfedi-Phakhel-Kathmandu road is also completely blocked by landslides. In Rasuwa, all major roads have remained closed since September 10.
Traffic on the Prithvi Highway at Krishnabhir and Chalise in Dhading has resumed in one-way operation after landslide debris was cleared. Some sections of the BP Highway in Kavre have also resumed one-way traffic.
In Solukhumbu, authorities have restricted non-essential vehicle and pedestrian movement on roads including the Siddhicharan Lokpath from 8 pm to 6 am due to the possibility of heavy rainfall.
The road to Korala, a major trade route with China, is also blocked by flood erosion and landslides. Several sections of the Kaligandaki Corridor, including Baglung, Beni-Jomsom, Beni-Darbang, Jomsom-Korala and MalDhunga-Beni, remain closed.
The Mid-Hill Highway in Lamjung and the Prithvi Highway section at Ghasikuwa in Tanahun are also fully blocked due to landslides.
In Lumbini Province, the Kaligandaki Corridor in Gulmi remains blocked. In Karnali, the Karnali Highway at Gagne Khola in Kalikot and the Nagmach-Gamgadhi road in Mugu are also completely closed.
The Department of Roads, road divisions, Nepal Police and local authorities are working to clear the affected roads and restore traffic.
