KATHMANDU: Demand for naked sport motorcycles has been growing in Nepal in recent years. Their combination of sporty styling, practical everyday use and performance has made them popular among riders, particularly younger customers.

Several brands offer naked sport motorcycles in Nepal, but the 200cc segment has three main options: the Bajaj Pulsar NS200, TVS Apache RTR 200 4V and KTM 200 Duke.

Here is a comparison of their engines, performance, features and prices.

Bajaj Pulsar NS200

The Bajaj Pulsar NS200 is a popular model in Nepal’s naked sport motorcycle segment. Hansraj Hulaschand & Company, the official distributor of Bajaj motorcycles in Nepal, sells the model.

The NS200 is powered by a 199.5cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, four-valve, DOHC fuel-injected engine with triple-spark technology. It produces a maximum power of 24.5 PS and peak torque of 18.74 Nm. The engine is paired with a six-speed gearbox.

Features include a fully digital instrument cluster, smartphone connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation, distance-to-empty display, ABS, LED lighting, upside-down front forks, a monoshock rear suspension, a slipper and assist clutch, and riding modes.

The Pulsar NS200 is available in a single variant in Nepal, priced at Rs. 479,900.

TVS Apache RTR 200 4V

The TVS Apache RTR series is known for its racing-inspired styling and sporty riding characteristics. Jagadamba Motors has been selling the Apache RTR 200 in Nepal for around nine years. The company has also introduced an all-new version with additional features.

The Apache RTR 200 4V uses a 197.75cc, single-cylinder, oil-cooled, four-valve, SOHC fuel-injected engine tuned for performance. It produces 20.82 PS of maximum power and 17.25 Nm of peak torque. The engine comes with a five-speed gearbox.

Its features include adjustable upside-down front forks, a preload-adjustable monoshock, dual-channel ABS, a projector headlamp, full LED lighting, traction control, riding modes, a slipper clutch, panic brake alert, Glide Through Technology, rear-wheel lift protection and adjustable clutch and brake levers.

The motorcycle also gets a 5-inch TFT instrument cluster and TVS SmartXonnect connectivity, which supports navigation and other connected functions.

The Apache RTR 200 4V is available in two variants in Nepal. Their prices are Rs. 424,900 and Rs. 459,900, respectively.

KTM 200 Duke

The KTM 200 Duke is another established option in Nepal’s 200cc naked sport motorcycle segment. Its aggressive streetfighter styling and premium brand positioning distinguish it from the other two models. Hansraj Hulaschand & Company distributes KTM motorcycles in Nepal.

The 200 Duke is powered by a 199.5cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, four-valve, DOHC fuel-injected engine paired with a six-speed gearbox.

Its features include a digital instrument cluster, headset pairing and connectivity, Supermoto ABS, disc brakes, twin LED headlights and WP suspension.

The KTM 200 Duke is priced at Rs. 644,900 in Nepal, making it significantly more expensive than the Pulsar NS200 and Apache RTR 200 4V.

Which motorcycle offers the best value?

The three motorcycles offer different combinations of performance, features and pricing. The Bajaj Pulsar NS200 leads in engine output, producing 24.5 PS.

The TVS Apache RTR 200 4V has the lowest starting price and offers a wide range of features, including traction control and a TFT display.

The KTM 200 Duke sits at the premium end of the segment, with its brand positioning, styling and performance-focused package.

The right choice depends on a rider’s budget, preferred design, performance needs and desired features.
