KATHMANDU: BMW Motorrad has unveiled the new F 450 RR, completing its middleweight motorcycle lineup based on a new platform. The supersport model follows the F 450 GS adventure motorcycle and the F 450 R streetfighter.

Inspired by the larger BMW S 1000 RR, the F 450 RR is designed for riders who want a sporty motorcycle without moving to the litre-class segment.

The motorcycle features an aggressive fairing with side vents and winglets. It gets a single headlamp, with daytime running lights (DRLs) on either side. The 14-litre fuel tank has sharp lines, while the raised rear section gives the bike a sporty look.

The BMW F 450 RR is powered by a 420cc parallel-twin engine that produces 48 hp and 43 Nm of peak torque. The engine is paired with a six-speed gearbox.

A quickshifter is available to make gear changes easier. BMW also offers an Easy Ride Clutch (ERC) option, which allows clutchless operation in suitable riding conditions.

The motorcycle comes with a 6.5-inch color TFT display and a USB Type-C charging port. The display supports features such as Bluetooth connectivity, navigation and music control.

Rider assistance features include ABS Pro, Dynamic Brake Control, traction control and engine drag torque control. Riders can choose from four riding modes: Rain, Road, Race and Race Pro. The Race Pro mode allows further customization of riding settings.

The F 450 RR uses a tubular steel frame with a 43 mm KYB upside-down front fork and a KYB rear mono-shock.

Braking is handled by a 310 mm front disc with a Brembo four-piston monobloc caliper. The rear gets a 240 mm disc with a ByBre single-piston caliper. The motorcycle rides on 17-inch wheels at both ends.

The standard seat height is 790 mm. Optional seats are available in 775 mm and 810 mm heights. The motorcycle has a kerb weight of 177 kg.

With its compact engine, sporty styling and electronic rider aids, the BMW F 450 RR expands the brand’s super-sport range for riders seeking a middleweight alternative to larger performance motorcycles.
