KATHMANDU: BYD has revealed the new BYD Dolphin G DM-i ahead of its European market launch.
The new plug-in hybrid hatchback will go on sale in Europe later this year. Prices are expected to be announced in June 2026, while deliveries will begin in the fall season.
BYD says the Dolphin G DM-i offers a combined driving range of up to 1,000 km.
In terms of design, the hatchback gets slim LED headlamps, active air intake, sporty front bumper, black alloy wheels, semi-hidden door handles, and darkened D-pillars that create a floating roof effect. The car also comes with a surround-view camera system and parking sensors at both ends.

The model shown by BYD features an orange exterior finish. The hatchback measures 4,160 mm in length and 1,825 mm in width. It is shorter but wider than the European-spec Dolphin EV.
Inside, the Dolphin G gets a black cabin with a floating touchscreen infotainment system and ‘G’ badging on the headrests.
BYD has not officially revealed the powertrain details yet. However, reports suggest the hatchback could use a similar setup to the BYD Atto 2 DM-i.
The Atto 2 DM-i uses a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine paired with an electric motor. The combined output reaches 209 hp. It is offered with 7.8 kWh and 18 kWh LFP battery options.
The electric-only driving range is expected to be between 40 km and 90 km under WLTP standards.
