KATHMANDU: Chery’s premium electric SUV, the Exlantix ET, has been spotted testing on Indian roads, according to Indian media reports.
The test vehicle was initially mistaken for Tata Motors’ upcoming Avinya EV, but the latest reports suggest it is the Exlantix ET, a model that could be introduced in India through JSW Motors.
The Exlantix ET is a full-size electric SUV measuring nearly 5 meters in length with a 3-meter wheelbase. Spy images show the SUV featuring an upright front design with a full-width LED light bar, vertically styled front fascia, and headlamps mounted in separate pods on the front bumper.
The test vehicle also appears to use the same aerodynamic alloy wheels as the version sold in international markets.
In China, the Exlantix ET is offered with multiple battery options ranging from 66 kWh to 97.6 kWh. Buyers can choose between single-motor rear-wheel-drive and dual-motor all-wheel-drive configurations, depending on the variant.
Chery also offers a range-extender version of the Exlantix ET that combines an electric drivetrain with a 1.5-liter petrol engine used solely to recharge the battery, extending the vehicle’s driving range.
It remains unclear which powertrain is being evaluated in India. Neither Chery nor JSW Motors has officially confirmed the purpose of the test vehicle or announced any launch plans for the Indian market.
