KATHMANDU: Government vehicles will now be fully insured.

A Cabinet meeting held on Monday decided to procure comprehensive insurance coverage for all official vehicles.

The Ministry of Finance has issued a directive instructing all subordinate agencies to ensure comprehensive insurance coverage for both newly purchased and existing government vehicles.

During the Gen-Z demonstration on September 8–9, protesters torched and vandalized thousands of government vehicles. The lack of insurance coverage caused significant losses to the state.

The new policy makes comprehensive insurance mandatory for all government vehicles to prevent such losses in the future.
