KATHMANDU: Continuous rainfall has triggered floods and landslides across several parts of Nepal, disrupting traffic on major highways. While some roads are operating on a one-way basis, others remain closed.

According to the Department of Roads’ latest highway status update, major highways in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces have been affected.

In Koshi Province, traffic is moving one-way on the Mid-Hill Highway at Bokhim, Bhojpur Municipality-5. Meanwhile, the Mechi Highway at Rajduwali, Ilam Municipality-9 remains completely blocked after floodwaters washed away the diversion at Puwakhola.

In Bagmati Province, vehicle movement on the BP Highway has been suspended due to the risk of flooding. The Kanti Lokpath in Makwanpur and the Araniko Highway at Kodari in Sindhupalchok have also been listed as fully blocked.

In Gandaki Province, a landslide has completely blocked the Pokhara-Taaditing road section in Madi Rural Municipality-2 of Kaski.

In Lumbini Province, the Ghorahi-Rukum Shahid Marg in Rolpa, the Salyan-Musikot road section in Arghakhanchi and the Madan Bhandari Highway in Gulmi remain closed due to landslides. Traffic is operating one-way on the Siddhartha Highway in Palpa.

Authorities have urged travelers to check the latest road conditions before traveling and use alternative routes where available.
