KATHMANDU: Heavy vehicles will be barred from operating on the Narayanghat-Kathmandu road section from October 11 to October 25.

The decision was taken at a meeting of concerned government agencies held at the Department of Transport Management on Tuesday.

According to the department, trucks, trailers and other heavy vehicles will be restricted on the route due to increased traffic during the Dashain festival. However, vehicles carrying essential goods, including food items, will be allowed to operate.

The department has also decided to make public transport route permits open from Ghatasthapana to Kojagrat Purnima.

As passenger movement is expected to increase during Dashain, public vehicles will be allowed to operate across the country without obtaining route permits during the period. However, vehicles restricted from operating on specific roads due to road conditions or other reasons will not be allowed to use those roads.
