KATHMANDU: Kia is preparing to bring the facelifted Sorento Hybrid to Nepal. The updated three-row SUV will be introduced by Continental Trading Enterprises, the authorized distributor of Kia in Nepal.

The company has already started preparations to bring the new Sorento. It has also listed the SUV with a maximum retail price of Rs 17.99 million.

The facelifted Sorento gets major design changes based on Kia’s latest design language. The front features vertically positioned LED headlights and Star Map LED daytime running lights. The updated bumper and skid plate give the SUV a more upright and bold look.

The side profile gets cleaner body lines and new alloy wheels. The SUV is available with 18-inch to 20-inch dual-tone diamond-cut alloy wheels. At the rear, the connected taillight design, new bumper and revised skid plate give it a cleaner look.

The Sorento Hybrid is available in six- and seven-seat layouts, depending on the market and configuration. Inside, it gets a dual 12.3-inch curved display setup for the digital instrument cluster and infotainment system.

The center console features a shift-by-wire rotary dial instead of a traditional gear lever. Other features include a wireless charging pad, Nappa leather, synthetic suede, soft-touch materials and 64-color ambient lighting. It also gets a head-up display and ventilated power seats.

The hybrid powertrain uses a 1.6-liter turbocharged GDI petrol engine with a 44.2kW electric motor. The system produces 227hp of combined power. Kia’s global Sorento Hybrid specification confirms the 44.2kW motor and 227hp combined output.

The India-spec Sorento will also get an all-wheel-drive (AWD) hybrid version. Kia has confirmed that the SUV will be offered with hybrid and diesel powertrains in India.

Safety features include seven airbags, lane keeping assist, electronic stability control, traction control, smart cruise control, a surround-view monitor and lane following assist.

Kia will launch the Sorento in India on September 4, 2026. It will be Kia India’s first strong-hybrid model and will serve as the brand’s flagship ICE SUV.

The official Nepal launch date has not been announced yet. However, the SUV is expected to go on sale in Nepal around the upcoming festive season.
