KATHMANDU: The new-generation Toyota Hilux has received a 5-star safety rating from ANCAP. The pickup scored 33.96/40 for adult occupant protection and 44/49 for child occupant protection.

In the frontal offset test, driver chest and lower legs had adequate protection, while other body parts showed good protection. Front passenger protection was rated good.

Full-width frontal tests showed marginal neck protection for the driver and adequate neck and chest protection for the rear passenger. All other critical areas were rated good.

Side impact tests showed good protection for all driver body regions, with adequate chest protection in the oblique pole test. Front seat head protection was good, and far-side impacts offered adequate protection in vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-pole scenarios.

Child dummy protection for 10-year-old and 6-year-old models was good in frontal offset and side impact tests.

Pedestrian protection was generally good for the bonnet and windscreen, but stiff windscreen pillars recorded poor results. The Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) system can detect and respond to pedestrians, cyclists, and motorcyclists.

The new-generation Toyota Hilux has received a five-star ANCAP safety rating in Australia. These ratings cover all Hilux variants sold there, except the Rugged X. The Hilux sold in Nepal shares the same specifications as the Australian model, and both countries use right-hand drive vehicles.
