Over 100,000 customers have already pre-ordered the BYD Great Tang

KATHMANDU: BYD has confirmed that the new BYD Great Tang EV has crossed 100,000 pre-sale orders in China, according to media reports.

The company achieved the milestone within two weeks of opening pre-orders at the 2026 Beijing Auto Show. BYD started pre-sales of the full-size electric SUV at USD 36,700. Higher variants are priced up to USD 47,000.

Lu Tian, ​​General Manager of BYD Dynasty Network’s sales division, confirmed the latest order figure on May 7.

The Great Tang had already received more than 30,000 bookings within the first 24 hours. Dealer reports later suggested the number crossed 60,000 units within 48 hours.

The SUV is positioned as BYD Dynasty Network’s flagship D-segment model. The official launch is scheduled for the second quarter of 2026.

The Great Tang measures 5,263 mm in length and comes with a 3,130 mm wheelbase. It features a 2+2+3 seven-seat layout.

Inside, the SUV gets a floating infotainment screen, passenger display, and a 17.3-inch roof-mounted second-row screen. Front seats come with a dual zero-gravity setup.

BYD will offer the SUV in both rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive versions. The AWD model can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds.

The Great Tang is built on BYD’s 1000V high-voltage platform and uses the second-generation Blade Battery. BYD claims the SUV can deliver up to 950 km CLTC driving range.

The SUV also supports up to 1000 kW charging under compatible charging conditions. Other features include DiSus-A air suspension, rear-wheel steering, road preview system, and crab-walk mode.
