KATHMANDU: Images of Porsche’s upcoming Mission S supercar concept have leaked online ahead of its official unveiling, revealing a mid-engine design and a distinctive rear cooling fan inspired by the legendary Porsche 917 race car.
The leaked footage reportedly shows the car being photographed by Porsche’s official team in New York. The vehicle features wide fenders, a rear spoiler integrated into a hoop-like structure and a sculpted body design.
One of the most striking details is a horizontally mounted cooling fan positioned at the centre of the rear deck. Its design recalls the large fans used in classic Porsche 917 racing cars during the 1960s and 1970s.
The roof features two glass panels above the driver and passenger, along with a raised central section. The rear also gets two pairs of stacked exhaust outlets, indicating that the concept uses an internal combustion engine.
However, Porsche has not confirmed the engine configuration or powertrain details. Reports suggest the car could feature a flat-eight engine, while hybrid technology is also a possibility. These details remain unconfirmed.
The Mission S has also drawn comparisons with the Porsche 959 due to its distinctive rear spoiler design. Its wide bodywork and sculpted rear section give it an aggressive supercar appearance.
The concept is part of Porsche’s strategy to improve profitability by expanding its range of higher-margin vehicles. It has been described as a potential successor to the Porsche 918 Spyder, although reports suggest the Mission S could target the supercar segment with higher production volumes.
