KATHMANDU: Porsche has unveiled the Mission S, a concept that previews a new mid-engine super sports car positioned above the 911. The model also introduces design elements expected to influence the brand’s future vehicles.
Porsche says a new flagship super sports car inspired by the Mission S is under development. The company has confirmed that the upcoming model will be a permanent addition to its lineup rather than a limited-production hypercar. However, it has not confirmed the production version’s final design or launch date.

The Mission S features a mid-engine-inspired profile with design cues from the iconic Porsche 911 GT1 race car. The front gets a large central air intake, rounded headlights, sculpted fenders and prominent air vents on the bonnet.
At the rear, the concept features a central fan inspired by the Porsche 917 race car. It also gets an integrated rear wing, a large diffuser and four stacked exhaust outlets.

The interior focuses on the driving experience. It features five digital instrument gauges and a retractable smartphone system with a MagSafe connection. The setup allows the phone to handle navigation and access Porsche’s app.
Other interior highlights include physical toggle switches, bucket seats with racing harnesses and a carbon-fibre shift lever.

The Mission S follows Porsche’s earlier Mission X concept, which was envisioned as an all-electric successor to the 918 Spyder. The new concept points towards a different direction for the brand’s flagship performance car.
Reports have also suggested that Porsche is developing a new eight-cylinder boxer engine for the upcoming model. However, the company has not officially confirmed the engine specifications.
Porsche has not announced the production car’s power output, pricing or release date. More details are expected as development progresses.
