KATHMANDU: Sajha Yatayat has rolled out a “Digital Ticketing and Command and Control Center” as part of efforts to make its services more technology-driven.
The public transport operator has introduced the digital system with the aim of making public transportation more modern, transparent and up to international standards.
Sajha said the Command and Control Center has been running continuous testing and evaluation since mid-April, and has now been brought into full operation since September 17.
With the control center now operational, the real-time location, route management, passenger load and driver-crew performance of all Sajha buses running on the roads will be monitored from a single control room. This is expected to help the operator respond quickly and coordinate during accidents, technical issues or traffic congestion.
Passengers will now also be able to pay their bus fares without cash. Fares can be paid digitally without the hassle of any additional app or card. The system allows passengers to simply tap cards from any Nepali bank, or scan NepalPay QR or other dynamic QR codes, to make instant fare payments.
To make regular commutes even faster, Sajha is also fast-tracking preparations to introduce a travel card in partnership with NepalPay, which would allow fare payments to be completed within seconds.
For passengers using digital payments, the company has introduced a “lucky draw” scheme offering daily, weekly and monthly prizes. Drivers and conductors providing the best service will also be rewarded with cash prizes.
Additionally, in coordination with the Kathmandu and Lalitpur metropolitan cities, among others, Sajha will expand its night bus service in the valley starting from September 19.
