KATHMANDU: Sajha Yatayat has purchased five electric microbuses in partnership with Lalitpur Metropolitan City. The microbuses will operate on different routes within Lalitpur.
The five 16-seater electric microbuses are from King Long. CG Motors, the authorized distributor of King Long in Nepal, handed over the vehicles to Sajha Yatayat on Thursday.
Sajha Yatayat and Lalitpur Metropolitan City have jointly invested in the purchase. However, the investment amount has not been disclosed.
Sajha Yatayat Chief Executive Officer Bhupendra Aryal confirmed that the microbuses were purchased under the partnership with Lalitpur Metropolitan City.
According to Aryal, the microbuses will operate on various routes within Lalitpur. The routes will be finalized in coordination with the metropolitan city.
Sajha Yatayat plans to bring the electric microbuses into operation before Dashain.
“We have purchased five electric microbuses through a joint investment by Lalitpur Metropolitan City and Sajha Yatayat. They will operate on different routes within Lalitpur. We plan to start operations before Dashain,” Aryal told MeroAuto.
Sajha Yatayat has been focusing on clean, environment-friendly and affordable public transport. It currently operates 40 electric buses in the Kathmandu Valley.
Established in 2018 BS, Sajha Yatayat also operates long-distance bus services to destinations including Myagdi, Baglung and Pokhara.
The company has investment from the federal government, Kathmandu Metropolitan City and Lalitpur Metropolitan City, among others.
