KATHMANDU: US-based EV startup Slate Auto, backed by Amazon, has filed a design patent for its electric pickup truck in India, highlighting its plans to expand presence in global markets.
The Slate Auto EV is a modular platform-based vehicle that can be converted into multiple body styles, including a pickup truck, fastback SUV, open-air pickup, and a boxy SUV.

The pickup version features a simple and rugged design with plastic body panels, circular headlamps, vertical tail lamps, and chunky bumpers. The SUV variant is offered with a tailgate-mounted spare wheel.
Inside, the vehicle follows a minimal approach. It gets a basic cabin layout with a three-spoke steering wheel, a small digital instrument cluster, air-conditioning, and manual roll-down windows.
The Slate pickup is offered with two battery options. It delivers a driving range of 241 km and 382 km depending on the variant. Power comes from a single rear-mounted electric motor producing 201 BHP.
