KATHMANDU: Toyota is preparing a strong product lineup for India with plans to launch 15 new and updated models by 2030. The company aims to capture a 10% market share by the end of the decade.
According to reports, Toyota is planning to introduce the Land Cruiser FJ in India. Built on the same platform as the Fortuner, the model is expected to arrive by late 2028.
Production will take place at Toyota’s plant in Maharashtra, and the price could start around 3 million Indian rupee.
Toyota is also developing an affordable pickup truck, positioned below the Hilux. It may resemble the Hilux Champ, which is currently sold in Southeast Asian markets.
At present, Toyota holds around 8% of India’s passenger vehicle market. With upcoming launches, the company expects to push its share to 10%.
India has become Toyota’s third-largest market globally, after the United States and China. Last year, the automaker sold over 300,000 vehicles and plans to expand its annual production capacity in India to over 1 million units.
