VinFast launches VF 6 and VF 7 electric SUVs in India

KATHMANDU: VinFast has launched its VF 6 and VF 7 electric SUVs in India. Both SUVs will be assembled at the company’s Thoothukudi plant in Tamil Nadu.  VinFast India is the Indian subsidiary of Vietnamese electric vehicle manufacturer VinFast, which recently entered the Indian market.

VF 6

The VF 6 comes in three variants: Earth, Wind and Wind Infinity. Prices for the VF 6 start at 1.649 million Indian rupees and go up to 1.829 million Indian rupees (ex-showroom).

It measures 4,241 mm in length, 1,834 mm in width, and 1,580 mm in height, with a 2,730 mm wheelbase and 190 mm ground clearance.

The SUV features LED daytime running lights, 18-inch alloy wheels, a 12.9-inch touchscreen, ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, a wireless charger and dual-zone climate control.

It also comes with Level 2 ADAS, automatic parking assist, seven airbags and a 360-degree camera.

The 59.6 kWh battery offers a range of 480 km, paired with a motor that produces 201 hp and 310 Nm of torque. It accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 8.89 seconds and supports DC fast charging.

VF 7

The VF 7 is available in five variants: Earth, Wind, Wind Infinity, Sky AWD and Sky Infinity AWD. The VF 7 starts at 2.089 million Indian rupees, with the top variant priced at 2.549 million Indian rupees (ex-showroom).

It is larger than the VF 6, measuring 4,545 mm in length and 1,890 mm in width. The SUV rides on 19-inch alloy wheels and comes with features such as a 12.9-inch touchscreen, ventilated front seats, reclining rear seats, a panoramic sunroof and dual-zone climate control.

It has two battery options: 59.6 kWh and 70.8 kWh. Available with both single and dual-motor configurations, the FWD version produces 201 hp and 310 Nm of torque, while the AWD version delivers 345 hp and 500 Nm of torque.

The range can reach up to 450 km, depending on the variant.

Both EVs are available in six colors. VinFast offers Indian customers a 10-year/200,000 km battery warranty for the VF 7 and a 7-year/200,000 km warranty for the VF 6.

These new EVs will compete with the Mahindra BE 6, Tata Curvv.ev, MG ZS EV and the Hyundai Creta Electric.
