KATHMANDU: Denza’s flagship sedan, the Denza Z9 GT, has received tens of thousands of orders, according to General Manager Li Hui. The strong demand has pushed the company to increase production, but supply is still lagging behind.

The Shenzhen-Shantou production facility has been running 24-hour shifts for the past three months. Daily output has crossed 100 units, but it remains insufficient. Current delivery timelines range from 4 to 6 weeks, depending on the variant.

In March, Denza sold 7,133 vehicles, including 738 units of the Z9. The company expects monthly sales to reach up to 20,000 units once production constraints are resolved.

The Z9 GT is positioned as a premium sedan to rival models like the Porsche Panamera. It is offered in both battery-electric and plug-in hybrid variants. The model is built on BYD’s e3 platform and features a tri-motor setup with rear-wheel steering.

The plug-in hybrid version offers a claimed range of up to 1,301 km (CLTC). Fast charging can deliver significant charge in under 10 minutes under optimal conditions. The model starts at around USD 37,300.

To support fast charging, BYD has deployed 5,000 flash charging stations across 297 cities in China within 27 days. The company plans to expand this network to 20,000 stations by the end of 2026.

Despite production ramp-up, challenges remain due to multiple configurations, supply chain coordination, and logistics. Some dealerships are also facing shortages of display vehicles.

Denza, a premium brand owned by BYD, is expanding its lineup in China’s competitive sedan segment. The Z9 GT is the first model in its new ā€œZā€ series and is expected to drive future growth.

In Nepal, Cimex Inc. is preparing to introduce Denza models. The first model to launch will be the Denza D9. The company has already opened a dedicated Denza showroom in Naxal to support the brand’s entry.
