More than 15 new car models to launch in Nepal this August

KATHMANDU: Nepal’s automotive market is set for a busy start to the fiscal year 2026/27, with more than 15 new passenger vehicle models expected to debut during the month of August.

Most of the launches will take place during the NAIMA Mobility Expo 2026, scheduled to begin on August 11. Several models, however, are expected to arrive before the exhibition opens.

Around half a dozen new automotive brands are also preparing to enter the Nepali market. Most of the upcoming launches are electric vehicles, with hatchbacks and SUVs dominating the lineup.

Jagdamba Motors is expected to launch the Proton eMas 5 hatchback before the expo. The company has already opened bookings for the model.

Shangrila Motors is preparing to introduce the Leapmotor B03 electric SUV at the expo. The model is sold as the A10 in China.

Sipradi Trading is likely to launch two new Tata EVs during the month. These include the Punch EV and the facelifted Tiago EV. The company may also unveil the long-awaited Sierra EV.

Laxmi Intercontinental is set to introduce Hyundai’s flagship electric SUV, the IONIQ 9, which has already arrived in Nepal. The company is also expected to launch the locally assembled all-new Hyundai Venue during the expo.

Laxmi Group is preparing to introduce three new brands to Nepal; Jetour, RFOX, and BAIC. The company will launch the BAIC BJ30E SUV and the ARCFOX T-One hatchback. While Jetour has not confirmed its first model, the Jetour T2 off-road SUV is widely expected to make its debut.

SPG Automobiles will introduce the Chery QQ3 crossover hatchback, marking the official entry of the Chery QQ brand into Nepal. The company is also expected to launch the Omoda O4.

MAW Vriddhi will bring Changan’s Nevo brand to Nepal. The company is expected to launch the Nevo Q05 electric SUV.

Paramount Motors, the official distributor of Wuling in Nepal, is expected to unveil four new models. These include the Xingyan SUV, Darion MPV, Wuling Mini EV, and the facelifted Bingo.

CG Motors is preparing to launch the Aion UT electric hatchback. Pioneer Moto Corp may also introduce the Nissan Tecton SUV, which recently went on sale in India.

Other automakers, including BYD and Mahindra, are also expected to announce new models. However, they have not yet disclosed which vehicles they plan to introduce.

The NAIMA Mobility Expo could also mark the Nepali debut of the Lepas and Hongqi brands. However, their participation has not yet been officially confirmed.
