KATHMANDU: Traffic along the Prithvi Highway has been completely halted after a section of the road subsided at Galaudi in Gajuri Rural Municipality-5, Dhading, on Friday evening.

The road was damaged by erosion from the Trishuli River, creating a risk of further subsidence and possible accidents. The District Administration Office, Dhading, has suspended vehicle movement along the affected section until further notice.

The closure has disrupted vehicles traveling to and from Kathmandu. Authorities have urged travelers and transport operators to use alternative routes until the highway reopens.

Assistant Chief District Officer Anil Poudel said the restriction would remain in place until another notice is issued. The road’s condition will need to be assessed before traffic can safely resume.

Meanwhile, a gas bullet truck overturned at Machhedi, near Galchi, along the Prithvi Highway. The incident caused a gas leak, making it difficult for authorities to reach the affected section at Galaudi. The two incidents have further complicated efforts to restore traffic along the highway.
