KATHMANDU: Maruti Suzuki India has achieved a major production milestone with the WagonR. The hatchback has crossed 3.5 million units, becoming one of the few models in India to reach this milestone.
The Maruti Suzuki WagonR was first launched in December 1999. Since then, it has remained one of India’s best-selling cars. The model is known for its tallboy design and practical cabin.
The second-generation WagonR was introduced in 2010. An AMT version with dual airbags and ABS was launched in 2015.
In 2019, Maruti Suzuki launched the third-generation WagonR. It is based on the fifth-generation Heartect platform. The model offers safety features such as six airbags, ABS with EBD, and ESP.
The Suzuki WagonR is manufactured in key markets including Japan, India, Hungary, Indonesia, and Pakistan. The model is sold in more than 75 countries worldwide, including Japan and several European markets.
In August, global WagonR sales surpassed 10 million units.
