KATHMANDU: Maruti Suzuki is preparing to showcase its second electric vehicle for the Indian market at the Bharat Mobility Expo in February 2027. The upcoming model is expected to be the YMC, an electric MPV that has been spotted testing on Indian roads.
The new electric MPV is being developed for both domestic and export markets. Maruti Suzuki already has a strong presence in the MPV segment with models such as the Ertiga and XL6. The YMC will expand its lineup with an all-electric option.
Spy images by Rushlane suggest that the YMC will feature a boxy design with an upright front section. It is expected to get LED headlamps, fog lamps, a closed-off grille and aerodynamic alloy wheels. Other design elements include squared-off wheel arches, pull-type door handles, a large glass area, an integrated rear spoiler and a shark-fin antenna.
The expected features include a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, Level 2 ADAS, a 360-degree camera and automatic climate control. The cabin is also likely to share several components with other Maruti Suzuki models.
The YMC is expected to use the HEARTECT-e platform, which also underpins the e Vitara. It could share powertrain options with the electric SUV, although the company has not confirmed its battery capacity, motor output or driving range.
Maruti Suzuki is likely to manufacture the electric MPV at its Hansalpur plant in Gujarat. The facility has an annual production capacity of 250,000 units and is expected to cater to both domestic and export markets.
More details, including the official name and technical specifications, are expected closer to its unveiling at the Bharat Mobility Expo in February 2027.
