KATHMANDU: The BAIC Group is preparing to introduce its products in Nepal officially. Under the Laxmi Group, the hybrid SUV BAIC BJ30 is expected to enter the Nepali market.

Detailed specifications of the version planned for Nepal have not been officially disclosed yet. However, the right-hand-drive version of the BJ30 is already on sale in Indonesia.

According to the company, the BJ30 uses a Magic Core hybrid powertrain. The SUV is powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine paired with a hybrid system. BAIC claims the vehicle can travel up to 1,000 km on a 51-liter fuel tank, highlighting its efficiency.

The BJ30 is designed with strong off-road capability. It offers 215 mm ground clearance, along with an approach angle of 25 degrees and a departure angle of 30 degrees, allowing the SUV to handle rough terrain and challenging road conditions.

To assist drivers during off-road driving, the SUV displays information such as slope angle, pitch, altitude, air pressure, and compass data directly on the instrument cluster. It also includes a wading mode, which measures water depth and shows real-time information when driving through water.

The BJ30 is positioned as a smart driving SUV. Features include slow start, fast start, low-speed control, and a regenerative braking system.

The SUV follows a boxy design and offers a feature-rich cabin. It comes equipped with a 14.6-inch touchscreen, 8-speaker audio system, wireless charging, and premium leather seats.

In terms of safety, the BJ30 includes eight airbags, a 360-degree camera, parking sensors, and ADAS driver assistance features, aimed at improving both safety and driving convenience.
