KATHMANDU : Digital wallet service provider Khalti has resumed its vehicle blue book renewal service after suspending it earlier this year.
The service had been halted in March following the government’s crackdown on middlemen operating at transport offices.
Under the resumed service, customers can renew their vehicle bluebook by placing a missed call to 9712049610 or sending a message via WhatsApp to 9801890083. A Khalti representative will then contact the customer to complete the process.
The company offers a doorstep service. Its representatives collect the blue book from the customer’s home, complete all formalities at the transport office, including tax payment and official endorsement, and return the renewed document to the customer’s address.
Users can also request the service directly through the Bluebook Renewal option under the What’s New section of the Khalti app.
Khalti now charges a flat service fee of Rs 250 for both two-wheelers and four-wheelers. Previously, the company charged Rs 350 for motorcycles and Rs 500 for four-wheelers.
The service is currently available only within the Kathmandu Valley.
According to the company, the service enables vehicle owners to renew their blue books legally and securely without having to visit transport offices or wait in long queues.
