KATHMANDU: BYD has unveiled the next-generation ATTO 1 in China. According to Chinese media reports, the updated electric hatchback has appeared in the latest MIIT approval list with a larger body, a more powerful motor and upgraded technology.
The new ATTO 1 measures 4,205 mm in length, 1,810 mm in width and 1,570 mm in height. Its wheelbase has increased to 2,650 mm. Compared to the current model, the hatchback is 425 mm longer and has a 150 mm longer wheelbase, making it closer in size to the BYD Dolphin.
The biggest update is under the hood. The hatchback now uses a 95 kW (127 hp) permanent magnet synchronous electric motor, replacing the previous 55 kW (75 hp) unit.
BYD claims a top speed of 150 km/h. Power comes from a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery supplied by FinDreams Battery, the company’s battery manufacturing arm.

The upcoming model also receives new exterior options, including redesigned alloy wheels, side skirts and updated badges. An optional camera mounted near the high-mounted stop lamp indicates enhanced driver assistance features on higher variants.
The Seagull, which won the 2025 World Urban Car title, is sold globally under different names, including ATTO 1, Dolphin Surf and Dolphin Mini, depending on the market.
In Nepal, the hatchback is available as the BYD ATTO 1 through the brand’s authorized distributor, Cimex Inc. It is currently BYD’s most affordable electric vehicle in the country.
The newly revealed generation is expected to arrive in Nepal after its official launch in China.
