KATHMANDU: BYD has announced that cumulative global sales of the Atto 3 electric SUV have surpassed 1 million units, marking a significant milestone for the company’s global expansion in electric mobility.
The Atto 3, also known as the Yuan Plus in China, was first launched in the Chinese market on February 19, 2022. The model reached the 1 million sales mark in 1,391 days, averaging approximately 30 units sold per hour globally. Within its first 14 months on the market, the Yuan Plus recorded 300,000 units sold in China alone.
While the global version is equipped with a 150 kW motor, the models offered in Nepal are limited to a 100 kW configuration. Both variants use BYD’s Blade Battery, based on LFP chemistry.
Designed as a global model, the BYD Atto 3 is now available in approximately 110 markets, including Nepal, where it was launched in October 2022. According to BYD, more than 4,000 units have been sold in the Nepali market to date.
The Atto 3 has become the most successful electric vehicle in Nepal, supported by its design, feature set, and battery safety technology. It is available in two variants: Advanced and Superior, priced from NPR 5.69 million to NPR 6.78 million. While the global version is equipped with a 150 kW motor, the models offered in Nepal are limited to a 100 kW configuration. Both variants use BYD’s Blade Battery, based on LFP chemistry.
Distributed by Cimex Inc., the Atto 3 continues to lead in Nepal’s growing electric vehicle segment.
