KATHMANDU : Chinese automobile brand Dongfeng has started selling its electric buses in the Nepali market.
Aayam Intercontinental, under the Himalayan Organization and the authorized distributor of Dongfeng in Nepal, has launched the electric buses at the ongoing NAIMA Nepal Mobility Expo 2026.
The company is offering the Dongfeng City EV and Long Range EV variants. The City EV is priced at Rs. 11.45 million, while the Long Range EV costs Rs. 12.4 million. Customers booking either bus during the NAIMA Expo will receive a Rs. 500,000 discount on the listed price.
Both buses feature two doors and offer seating capacity ranging from 25 to 29 passengers. They are powered by a 220 kWh permanent magnet synchronous motor that produces a maximum torque of 1,500 Nm.
The buses are available with 103.47 kWh and 140 kWh battery packs. The City EV offers a CLTC range of 250 km, while the Long Range EV delivers up to 350 km on a full charge.
Both models have a ground clearance of 320 mm. They measure 7,180 mm in length, 2,365 mm in width and 2,980 mm in height. The buses have a wheelbase of 3,750 mm.
Dongfeng provides a battery warranty of 5 years or 200,000 km. Customers can extend the battery warranty up to 8 years or 400,000 km. The motor comes with a warranty of 5 years or 100,000 km.
The company has brought Dongfeng electric buses to Nepal in response to growing demand and the government’s increasing focus on larger EVs.
Aayam Intercontinental also plans to introduce 9-meter and 12-meter electric buses with seating capacities of 38 and 52 passengers in the near future.
Dongfeng is one of China’s largest and most established automobile manufacturers. Founded in 1969, the company is state-owned and produces cars, buses, trucks, special-purpose vehicles and various automotive components.
