KATHMANDU: Buyers planning to purchase an EV with a budget of around Rs 3 million have limited options in the Nepali market this Dashain.

There are currently three hatchback EVs available around this price range: the Tata Tiago EV, Dongfeng Nammi Box and Kaiyi E-Qute 04. However, limited supply could make immediate delivery difficult. Customers who have already booked the vehicles may have a better chance of getting delivery during Dashain.

Nammi Box

The Dongfeng Nammi Box is one of the popular hatchback EVs in Nepal. It is available in two variants, with the entry-level Box E2 Short Range featuring a 31.4 kWh LFP battery and a claimed CLTC range of 330 km.

The variant is priced at Rs 3.099 million. During the NADA Auto Show, MAW Vriddhi offered a Rs 100,000 cash discount on bookings.

Tata Tiago EV

The Tata Tiago EV is another option in this price range. The top variant is priced at Rs 2.999 million.

The facelifted Tiago EV was recently launched in Nepal with a 24 kWh battery pack and a 55 kW electric motor. It is imported from India and has already gained a presence among Nepali EV buyers.

Kaiyi E-Qute 04

The Kaiyi E-Qute 04 is the most affordable option among the three. It is priced at Rs 2.596 million. The hatchback comes with a 28 kWh battery and a claimed range of 300 km. It is powered by a 40 kW electric motor.

With a budget of Rs 3 million, buyers choosing the E-Qute 04 can save around Rs 400,000 compared to the full budget.
