KATHMANDU: The Galchhi-Syafrubesi road section, which has been closed for nearly a month due to floods, is expected to reopen to traffic by mid-October.
The government has accelerated repair work to open the road as soon as possible. The section from Galchhi to Bidur in Nuwakot has already been repaired, and an Acrow bridge has been installed at Devighat in between.
In Bidur, where the road was damaged, the Nepal Army has started blasting work to reopen the track. Meanwhile, in Betrawati, Rasuwa, foundation work has begun for installing a Bailey bridge.
There are no issues on the stretch from Betrawati to Dhunche and onward to Syafrubesi. However, a Bailey bridge needs to be installed at Syafrubesi itself. The Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport has said preparations for this are underway.
The road section from Syafrubesi towards Rasuwagadhi remains completely damaged. A survey has already begun there for the construction of a new road.
