KATHMANDU: Volkswagen has released the first teaser of the updated Virtus sedan, revealing several exterior design changes ahead of its expected launch.
The facelift brings the first major update to the Virtus since it debuted in the Indian market in 2022.The teaser video highlights revised lighting elements, an updated front grille and bumper, and new alloy wheels.
At the front, the updated Virtus gets a redesigned bumper with smaller gloss-finish elements and cube-shaped fog lamps. The grille also receives revised detailing. An illuminated Volkswagen logo could be offered, although this is not confirmed.
The sedan features new dual-barrel headlamps with L-shaped LED daytime running lights (DRLs). The teaser also confirms the continuation of the sporty GT variant.

The powertrain lineup is expected to remain largely unchanged. However, the 1.0-liter TSI engine could receive an 8-speed torque converter automatic gearbox, replacing the existing 6-speed unit. This update is expected to be similar to the transmission offered in other Volkswagen Group models in India.
A manual transmission option for the 1.5-liter TSI engine is unlikely to return.
The side profile remains largely unchanged, although the teaser shows new black alloy wheels. Cameras mounted on the outside rear-view mirrors (ORVMs) also suggest that the facelift could get a 360-degree camera system, similar to the one offered in the Skoda Slavia.
At the rear, the updated Virtus retains the existing tail-lamp design and overall shape. However, the LED lighting elements appear to have received some changes.
Volkswagen has not yet revealed the interior of the facelifted sedan. Cabin updates are expected to follow the changes introduced in the recently updated Skoda Slavia.
