KATHMANDU: Hyundai Creta has crossed 1.5 million cumulative sales in India, reaching the milestone in September 2026. The mid-size SUV has remained one of Hyundai’s best-selling models since its launch in 2015.

The Creta accounts for around 55% of Hyundai’s total SUV sales in India. It also represents nearly 15% of the company’s cumulative passenger vehicle sales in the country.

The SUV recorded its strongest financial year in FY2026, with sales reaching 201,921 units. The current-generation Creta was launched in January 2024. It recorded an estimated 530,000 domestic sales through September 2026 across its available powertrain options.

The Creta is offered with a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 113 BHP, a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 158 BHP, and a 1.5-litre diesel engine producing 114 BHP. The Creta Electric, launched in January 2025, produces up to 168 BHP.

Hyundai has also exported nearly 300,000 units of the Creta through August 2026. Hyundai is expected to introduce a new-generation Creta in 2027. The upcoming model is expected to use the K3 platform, which also underpins the second-generation Kia Seltos.

In Nepal, Hyundai vehicles are distributed by Laxmi Intercontinental. The Hyundai Creta was first launched in Nepal in September 2015 and has since become one of the popular models in the country’s mid-size SUV segment. The petrol-powered Creta is assembled at Hyundai’s vehicle assembly plant in Nepal.
