KATHMANDU: Hyundai Motor India has announced plans to launch two new SUVs in the Indian market in FY2027 as the company aims to strengthen its position in high-volume segments.

The upcoming models are expected to include the Hyundai Inster EV and a new crossover based on the Hyundai Bayon.

Hyundai said one of the new models will be a locally developed electric compact SUV, while the second will expand its internal combustion engine (ICE) SUV lineup.

The company shared the plan during its fourth-quarter earnings call.

Managing Director and CEO Tarun Garg said both products will target India’s fast-growing compact and mid-size SUV segments. According to Hyundai, these categories currently account for a major share of passenger vehicle demand in India.

The company expressed confidence that the new launches will support sales growth in the coming years. Hyundai has recently faced strong competition from Indian brands such as Tata Motors and Mahindra & Mahindra in the domestic passenger vehicle market.

The automaker now expects domestic sales volume growth of 8 to 10 percent in FY2027 with the help of its new SUV lineup.
